Jade Air Joins The Dakar Rally!
News of our engine expertise has obviously spread outside the confines of aviation with the result that Jody Arch, one of our engineers has been picked to be part of the support team for one of the major teams, the Bowler Wildcat Team for the next Dakar Rally in 2007.
The Dakar Rally is world renowned as being one of the toughest endurance events in motorsport. 2007 will again see the rally starting in Lisbon, Portugal and eventually arriving in Dakar via Morocco and Mali.
Jody, whose father David Arch also works for Jade Air, came to us from College. His five year apprenticeship apprenticeship which included continued day release at Technical College and specialised aircraft engine courses resulted in him qualifying as an engine assembly technician, approval as a test bed engineer gained a CAA Approved welder´s license.
We will be watching the progress of his team on the Dakar Rally with great interest. For more information you can visit the Bowler-offroad.com website.

In April 2005, Jade Air exhibited at the London Airshow

2003
In September of 2003 Jade Air became Superior Inc.'s Engine Build centre For Europe
According to Derek Graham, Chairman, Jade Air PLC, "This agreement is a natural step for our two companies. It extends Jade Air’s long standing as the UK Build Centre for Superior Air, who are already the leading developer of new engines and aftermarket replacement engine programs."
The new engines and programs that will fall under Jade Air’s responsibility are:
The Certified Millennium Pre-Owned Engine Program: This is an aftermarket engine overhauled to Superior’s stringent specifications and carrying a five year warranty. The engine will be exclusively built for the European market by Jade Air.
The XP-360 Experimental Engine Program: This is a new 360 cubic inch, 180 horsepower completely new engine. Although all components of the engine are FAA approved, when put together this engine is a non-certified engine, which will also be built at Jade Air’s facilities.
The Vantage Certified Engine: A new 360 cubic inch 180 horsepower engine currently going through the FAA Type Certification process. This new State-of-the-Art in design engine will have many different airframe applications. The target markets will be, New Airframe Production, Supplemental Type Certificate’s (STC’s) for existing airframe applications and for any owner requiring a certified engine.
In addition to the assembly of Superior’s Millennium Engine and XP-360, Jade Air will have the responsibility for all sales activities for each Superior engine program in it’s given European territory as well as warranty and after service support and the selection of engine installation centres.
"We are currently in the process of selecting maintenance facilities across Europe who will service, maintain and support these engines locally. These Service Centres will, together with our European Build Centre, provide a level of long term support for piston engines, previously available only for turbines", stated Graham
Jade Air plc is one of the biggest piston engine overhaul companies in Europe with hangar and workshop facilities at three locations in the UK plus a sales office in Verden Germany.
